Makeup Products I've Decluttered
Hi loves! I hope you all had a great weekend. So recently, or actually not that recently, maybe over the last 2 or 3 months, I've started feeling very overwhelmed with my makeup collection. I mean I don't really have an excessively large collection but I do have more then the average day to day person.
It's almost like I took a step back and realised that I need to be able to use up products and enjoy them before they expire. I really was pulled into the hype of the YouTube world and almost felt like I needed a huge collection of makeup like they (youtubers) have. This is such an unrealistic place to be because about 70-80% of the makeup youtubers review these days is actually sent to them for free. This isn't a reality for people like you or me; we buy all or most of our makeup or skincare products, etc. ourselves and as most of you guys know, makeup is dang expensive.
One of my new years resolutions was to only buy products to replace nearly empty or empty products (obviously with a few luxuries added inbetween) and also to declutter makeup I don't use for one reason or another.
One of the biggest culprits of this is eyeshadow palettes...I LOVE eyeshadow palettes. They are one of my biggest weaknesses. But I do have a fair amount, more than I really need and for this reason a couple of them go unloved and unused.
So the first palette I decluttered was my Tarte Tartelette palette.
You may be surprised by this because in a recent post I raved so much about how much I love my Tartelette in Bloom palette which I do obviously adore. Alongside my in Bloom palette this was one of my first high end palettes and it was basically new when I sold it. I had probably used it about 3 times in the time I had it and that's a long time to have a palette and not use it. It really isn't a bad palette it's actually a damn good one but it's so weird how it just didn't inspire me. I just really wanted someone to have it that will love it far more than I ever did.
Next palette I parted ways with was the Colourpop Fem Rosa She Palette.
Now this palette... I don't even know why I bought it. I absolutely adore Colourpop eyeshadows but this shade selection, while being so stunning, is the complete opposite of what I regularly use and who I am. I used it once in the time I had it and every time I looked at it I did exactly what I did when I bought it, I talked myself into thinking that I needed shades like that because I don't own anything like them. I kept thinking to myself "Oh, I'll use it at some point. Maybe Valentines day or something." But what kind of person am I if I just keep a palette for one day of the year (cough cough obsessed). Yeah so this one was sold too.
I recently parted with the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop.
The reason I kept this for so long is because it is a Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector and it was the only one I owned. I guess I just couldn't deal with the fact that it didn't suit my skin tone after I had seen how many people loved it so much. I used it about 2 or 3 times while I had it and every time I knew it was a couple shades too dark. I finally decided to sell it and I'm wanting to use the money to buy the correct shade for my skintone (most probably Opal, Vanilla Quartz or Moonstone).
The Colourpop "Double Entendre" Palette.
I got this in the mail about 2 weeks ago after ordering it about a month and a half ago. I didn't even touch it and sold it straight away. When I opened it I was just dissapointed because it was exactly what I already had. So I decided it needed a home with someone who would love it (it would be great for someone who is just starting to play with eyeshadow and again I love Colourpop eyeshadows, its just the shades for me personally).
The Benefit Porefessional Primer.
I am still busy finishing off my previous Benefit Porefessional which I do love and it does work well, but I just felt like trying something different. So I sold this backup which was still full and went out and purchased the Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer which I will be starting to use very soon.
A foundation I'm decluttering is the Fenty Pro Filt'r Foundation.
I mean it was a nice foundation but that's all I can really say about it. I used it a couple times and it just didn't really do much for me. It didn't last as long as I thought it would, it looked average on my skin but the thing that made me decide to get rid of it is that it broke me out so badly. I've never broken out from a foundation before and if I have it would have been very minor. I had red bumps all over my forehead and nose and a couple pimples. Na ah I had to say goodbye.
A highlighter I recently decluttered too was the Dose of Colors DesixKaty Fuego Highlighter.
This highlighter is stunning and I know many people who love it but when I got it I realised it is far to dark for me. I'm pretty sure I only used it once before swapping it with someone else for a different product.
Another palette I decluttered was the Violet Voss x Laura Lee Palette.
I wanted this palette for ages and when I got it I was just underwhelmed. I ended up selling it because the shades just didn't inspire me and I only really loved one of the shades - the metallic green/blue. I know the person I sold it to is loving it much more than I would have. I do however really love Violet Voss eyeshadows and the Holy Grail palette is still a very reached for palette in my collection. I would highly reccomend their palettes and this palette is great if you enjoy those sort of shades.
These were a couple of the products I have decluttered over the past month. There were more but I can't really remember what all of them were. Hope you enjoyed this post, what have you decluttered recently?
Disclaimer: These products are not bad at all, they just didn't work for me for one reason or another.
