My Favourite Eyeshadow Palettes (2018)
Hey loves! So last year I posted my top 5 eyeshadow palettes and that was when I had just started using eyeshadows properly. My tastes have really changed since then and I am more aware of what I enjoy from an eyeshadow palette and eyeshadow formulae. I feel I've learnt so much in this time and I am still learning. In this post, I'm focusing on my most used or most reached for eyeshadow palettes or palettes that I really love for one reason or another. These are palettes that I truly adore and will most probably repurchase (if possible) in the future.
- Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette - $38
I was also one of those people that really didn't buy into the hype of the Jaclyn Hill palette until very recently. I finally gave in and decided to buy it a couple months ago and I am so happy I did. The quality is very different to previous Morphe palettes (which I have never been a massive fan of). Every single shade is buttery, creamy, insanely pigmented and they require little effort in blending. Another thing I love about this palette is how versatile it is. The colour selection in this palette is stunning. There is a wide shade range including neutral, warm, cool and there is a stunning selection of colour in the lower left corner. I can create countless eyeshadow looks with this palette and it really does deserve all the love and hype it has received. I use it all the time even if it's just to reach for one or two key shades, I just know I can count on this palette no matter what. If you can get your hands on at least one of the palettes I mention today you have to get this one if you don't have it already!
- Colourpop I Think I Love You Eyeshadow Palette - $16
Another palette I know I can count on and one I reach for the most is the Colourpop "I Think I Love You" Palette. This is a very neutral and warm-toned palette that I really enjoy. Not only is Colourpop super affordable, but they also have amazing quality products, especially their pressed eyeshadow formula. This palette, out of the many that they have launched, is my favourite because it is the most usable. It has a lovely range of neutral and warm shades that I can use every day and I can create so many looks with it. The shadows are soft, buttery, easily blendable and overall just amazing. I highly recommend this palette to everyone and especially if you are just starting out with makeup.
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism Eyeshadow Palette - Usually $42 but currently on sale for $32
This is my favourite palette to grab if I'm feeling like wearing something that is different and creative. I do have a couple palettes I enjoy for dramatic looks but this one just appeals to me the most. I personally love the versatility in this palette and if you are a person that enjoys colour and experimenting then I highly recommend this palette. The Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadow formula is one of my absolute favourites. It is a more powdery formula but the pigmentation and blendability is great and the palettes are always so cohesive from this brand.
- Tarte Tartelette in Bloom Eyeshadow Palette - R690 / $46
This palette was my first ever high-end palette and it is always one that I fall back on frequently. I know many people are not major fans of the Tarte eyeshadow formula but I actually really like it. It is a drier formula due to the Amazonian clay infusion which does give more fall out but I do enjoy using this palette very often. Although the formula is drier it still has a very high pigmentation and they still work very well on the eyes. I especially enjoy using the two darkest brown shades to smoke out my eyeshadow when I want a more grungy eye look but don't want to use a black. Drier formula eyeshadows like these are also great for people with oilier eyelids. This is also another great palette for beginners.
- Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette - $49
I was one of those people to be very late to the Chocolate Bar band-wagon. When I used to see this palette online I would think it was pretty but just too boring to invest my money in. I did end up buying it a couple of months ago more out of curiosity than anything else. Everybody and their mother always rave about this product so I wanted to see how it worked for myself. I personally really enjoy this palette. It is very easy to use, smells great and there are actually a number of different looks you can do with the shade range. This palette is awesome if you are just starting out with makeup or even if you are just looking for an everyday palette you can count on. The formula isn't as pigmented or overly metallic as some of the other palettes I've mentioned but I find that that adds to the everyday usability.
- Jouer Skinny Dip Eyeshadow Palette $40
This palette is so unique in both the concept as well as the formula and that is why I love it so much. The formula has an extremely pigmented, glitter-infused, metallic finish. They are really hard to explain and you can only really see what I mean when you swatch and use them yourself. When you swatch or put them on your eyes the eyeshadows are so pigmented and really turn your makeup look from normal to glam with a dash of sparkle. They are described as ultra foil shimmer shadows and I really couldn't describe them any better. I've heard that it has become permanent so if you can get your hands on it I would really recommend it.
- Colourpop All I See is Magic Eyeshadow Palette $20
This is a fairly recent addition to my makeup collection but if you look at this palette it's literally me as a palette. It has such a variety of tones and shades which makes it really unique. The quality is the same as the other Colourpop palettes and you obviously know by now that I am a die-hard fan of the brand and their products. I don't think I've ever tried anything I don't like. If you can get your hands on this I rate you should definitely add it to your shopping list. The only flaw I have with the Colourpop matte cardboard packaging is that it gets dirty pretty easily but I'm usually very gentle and careful with my makeup so I haven't really had major issues.
- Colourpop x Kathleen Lights Dream St. Palette $16
Firstly, I love Kathleen Lights, she really is one of my favourite YouTubers. Secondly I love this palette for its versatility - similarly to the "All I See is Magic" palette - I really enjoy the fact that I can create a numerous amount of looks with such a small palette. Again it has the same formula as the other Colourpop palettes so there isn't much to say about it other than the fact that I LOVE it and that I highly recommend it. It's also a really good palette to get if you are just wanting to get started with playing with colour because there is a good mix of neutrals and pops of colour that aren't overwhelmingly bright or out there.
