Tips & Tricks for Flawless Skin

Everybody always dreams of having the most perfect flawless skin. The hard part is getting it. There are multiple tips I can give you to better your skin especially those like me who suffer from sensitive conbination skin which I have to admit, can be a real mission to deal with. So I decided to make a post on things you can do to better your skin and get a more flawless look.

1) Find out exactly what your skin type is:
There is no point in going out and buying any old facewash and expect it to work for you. All the different types of face washes are formulated to treat their specific skin type so you have to know exactly what kind you are. For instance if I had to buy a face wash I would look for one that is for sensitive combination to oily skin or if you for instance suffer from a very dry skin type you will have to look for a face wash to suit that.

2) Do not scrub your face.
One of the worst things you could do is rub and scrub your face hard when you wash it as this can inflame your face and make it more prone to bacteria. You should apply a pea size amount of your product and massage it gently all over your face.

3) Do not use scorching or freezing cold water to wash your face.
This also will inflame your skin and cause unnecessarily redness. Rather use lukewarm to warm water to rinse your face especially for those with sensitive skin.

4) Do not touch your face.
If you can avoid it, do so. One of the worst things to do is touch your face. You are busy with all kinds of things on a day-to-day basis and are constantly using your hands and obviously you don't wash your hands constantly. When you touch your face you transfer bacteria and oils from your hands onto your face. You will find that the places on your face that you touch the most are the places that will most likely break out the most. The best thing to do is train yourself not to touch your face, you can also become accustomed to washing your hands more regularly and try to carry around a waterless handsanitizer in your bag.

5) Do not scratch your face.
Please do not scratch acne, pimples, pop them, squeeze them anything. The best thing to do is leave them alone. When you scratch you not only cause constant scabbing and sores but you are spreading the bacteria from the blemish which then just creates more blemishes and so on. You are also causing scarring due to constant scabbing which in the long run is actually very hard to treat.

6) When it comes to pimples don't use your nails to squeeze them.
You have so much bacteria and germs under your nails and by squeezing your face you are transferring it onto and into the squeezed blemish. Rather if it is quite large and is 'ripe' use a sterilised pair of tweezers to nip the top of the pimple off and then use a tissue to wipe the inside away just before you wash your face at night, do not squeeze them.

7) Always Moisturize. Even if you have oily skin, it is so so important to moisturize and keep your skin soft and hydrated. If you try to dry your skin out by steering clear of products such as moisturizer you are actually causing your it to create more oils to keep it hydrated thus creating a more oily complexion. For dryer skin types it is important to moisturize so that your skin doesn't dry out to much and crack and peel etc especially in harsher dryer months.

8) Drink lots of water. Water not only keeps you healthy and keeps you hydrated but it keeps your skin hydrated. It helps to remove toxins from within thus reducing acne and breakouts. Dehydration weaken's the delicate skin under the eyes which makes bags and darkness more prominent. Not only this but water helps to increase elasticity in skin which helps to prevent wrinkles. Hydrated skin is happy skin.

9) Eat a well balanced and healthy diet that includes lots of fruit and vegetables. Stay away from oily, processed, sugar filled junk food. These encourage acne and pimples.

10) Hair products can affect your skin.
Hair products with oil, silicones and plasticizers will clog your pores if they make contact with you skin.

11) Bedding.
Change you pillowcase weekly to avoid contaminating your face as while you sleep your face produces oils which transfer to your pillow every night as well as oils from your hair.

12) Green tea.
Green tea is a natural remedy that is often used to cure acne. It dates back as one of the trusted Chinese remedies for skin impurities and skin care. You can drink it, apply it in a cream form or you can use green tea leave's directly on your face.

13) Exfoliate once a week.
Exfoliating the skin helps to remove dead skin cells that build up on the surface of the skin, which can clog pores, causing blackheads, pimples and blemishes. Exfoliating the skin also leaves the skin feeling fresh and radiant.

14) Never go to bed with makeup on.
Even if you are super lazy make sure you get up and take it off and do your skin care routine before bed. Keeping your makeup on overnight restricts the skin from breathing and repairing itself. It also clogs pores causing blemishes, blackheads and pimples.

15) Make sure you wash your face twice a day.
Your face picks up dust particles, dirt, etc during the day especially those who were makeup. You have to wash this off and cleanse your face properly when you wake up to get rid of excess oils produced during the night as well as at the end of the day when your face has been exposed all day to bacteria and dust.

16) If you don't have consistency you won't get results.
Once you find a product that you like and that is right for your skin, stick to it. Make sure you use it day and night and don't forget so that the formula actually works on your skin as majority of skins have to adapt to new products. Don't freak if your face breaks out a bit when you start with a new product. Discontinue use of any product that gives your face a reaction as some products can be harsh in sensitive skin types.

17) You're not washing your face before and after working out.
You have to wash your face before and after working out. Skip makeup at the gym and wash your face immediately after you work out while your pores are still open and before your sweat dries and clogs them.

18) You aren't getting enough sleep.
If you don't get your recommended amount of sleep every night you are increasing the risk of developing blemishes and wrinkles due to your facial products not having enough time to do their job. Make sure you try to sleep for at least 8 hours a day.

19) Hair.
Try to sleep with your hair out of your face in a bun or plait so that the oils from it don't go onto your face while you sleep and clog your pores. This is super important especially if you are someone who washes their hair every two or three days as more oils are produced in this time.
